Lamningen

Lamningen is the student union Rindi’s annual welcome event for all new students studying at Uppsala University Campus Gotland. Offers a perfect opportunity to gain insight into what it is like to be a student at Campus Gotland, to live in Visby and to meet new people. Lamningen can be compared to inductions at other universities and colleges but with a Gotland touch, so that the new students have a fun and a remarkable experience.

As an Open Stab Member, I hope to assist other stab members and the Generals to ensure that Lamingen 2024 goes as smoothly as possible, providing all the first-year students with a warm welcome to the island! 💜

Schedule

Day 1 - 04 September - Welcome Day

The ‘lambs’ will be greeted with speeches by the Lamningen Generals and by Rindi. The lambs will get to meet their assigned group and shepherd. The shepherds are current students who will help and guide ‘their’ lambs during the events.

Day 2 - 05 September - Kalkatraz

Each team will get assigned a list of challenges and go for a ‘score hunt’ around Visby, both to do certain things but also to find objects and other fun things. The team efforts will be scored by the staff members at the end of the day.

Day 3 - 06 September - Melvin, pimp the flag

Each team will be assigned a watermelon filled with a secret liquid... The task will be to drink and eat the contents of the melon, then use the rind for something creative, and present it during a catwalk in front of the staff. Each group also gets material to pimp a team flag.

Day 4 - 09 September - Section Day

Rindi has a number of sections and you belong to one, depending on your area of study, and will spend the day with a lot of fun, planned by your section board. Programme details will be provided by each section.

Day 5 - 10 September - Water Day

Team up again for a 7-a-side match on the beach fence, with water-inspired games, together with your team and shepherd, and the Lamningen staff. Make sure to wear your Lamningen T-shirt since one of the games will include coloured water fight, i.e. some “non-washable” memories may occur…

Day 6 - 11 September - Heptathlon

Back on the beach again there will be seven stations with games where all teams get the chance to compete against each other to win points. Comfortable clothes apply if you want to go all in.

Day 7 - 12 September - Rest Day

Relax and prepare for the final day of Lamningen.

Day 8 - 13 September - The Last Day

The teams will be pitted against each other in the serious and important game of ‘Capture the flag’. There will also be a show by the Rindi Fire Guild. The final hours of Lamningen we will spend on the beach fence with mingling, dancing and music!!!

Gasque

Date to be confirmed

In conjunction with the event, there will also be a Gasque, a form of fine dining or dinner.

Tickets for the Gasque are sold separately and more information will be available on Instagram.

We are looking forward to getting to know you all!

Best regards,

The Lamningen staff and Rindi
